Job Description

Position Summary: As a Sealer Sander your main job would be to sand basecoats, sealers and topcoats on Conestoga products that will include drawer fronts, door fronts, veneers, moldings and other cabinet components. All of your work will be performed in the Finishing area of the plant. You will use a small power tools and various sand papers to sand the products.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepping and sanding of various Doors/Cabinets
  • Prepare items for finish applications by hand and using power tools/equipment
  • Strip old finish from wood surfaces
  • Smooth gouges with filler and sand
  • Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the appropriate team leader
  • Minor repairs to Doors/Cabinets
  • Meet daily/weekly production targets to finish Doors/Cabinets
  • Completes tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimal supervision
  • Maintains the work area and all equipment in a clean and orderly condition following prescribed safety requirements at all times
  • Identifies and communicates safety violations and/or injuries to team leader or manager
  • Must be familiar with basic machine functions in order to perform the specified tasks
  • Ensures the quality of the finished product meets the specifications of Conestoga standards of quality
  • Ensures all equipment is working properly
  • Works with team members to maximize productivity, quality, safety, delivery, and yield regularly meeting all metric expectations
  • Must be willing to transfer to other departments and positions based on manufacturing needs when directed by supervisor
  • All other duties assigned Job Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities: 

  • High levels of concentration required and particular attention to detail needed
  • Must be able to follow written instructions and keep precise records 
  • In all activities, being safety-conscious and using that approach to work
  • Must be able to work with little supervision
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Must have good hand-to-eye coordination

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to repetitively lift objects from 5 to 15 pounds over your head
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours a day

  • Ability to work in an environment where there is continuously exposure to dirt, dust, noise, fumes and odor and is frequently exposed to heat, cold and dryness. Occasionally exposed to hazardous materials.
