This position designs and maintains process control and automation programs for a food processing facility. This individual provides support and troubleshooting to enable a 24/7 operation of plant process control network and associated hardware. This position provides the same level of support for control issues related to both the plant facility as well as production equipment.

Essential Functions

• Troubleshoots production and facility process control equipment;

• Troubleshoots, repairs, and replaces electro-mechanical and steam control equipment;

• Provides new functioning control and automation solutions based on functional descriptions (modifications to current system, or new equipment installations);

• Modifies PLC and HMI panel logic to meet changing needs;

• Works with vendors to obtain information and pricing on equipment;

• Documents new work so that others can correctly install or troubleshoot; updates existing plant documentation;

• Maintains and improves skills and knowledge to keep current with process automation equipment and software;

• Perform essential functions of Maintenance Technician position as needed. Working with the Maintenance Manager:

• Takes leadership role on a continuous basis, delegating and coaching department to improve performance and accountability;

• Define and set maintenance department expectations, execute corrective actions and confirm completion;

• Direct and facilitate department staff to promote efficient and consistant execution of maintenance deliverables;

• Keep current with the daily production schedule, objectives, and urgent needs and assign maintenance staff as needed to support production objectives;

• Participate in daily meetings, communicate and execute follow up action items;

• Schedule and lead regular monthly maintenance staff meetings to review plant performance and maintenance objectives;

• Provide technical coaching and training;

• Process and dispatch work requests and direct work load (PM / WO);

• Coordinate with maintenance management and Capital Project Engineering team for maintenance staff support needs;

• Participates in Continuous Improvement Process;

• Follows all Quality policies & procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s);

• Follows all Safety policies & procedures and participates in monthly observations.

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED;

• Associates (or other) Degree in relevant field;

• Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English;

• Requires the ability to use the following: basic shop mathematics; reference handbooks; blueprints or drawings, a wide variety of tools or precision measuring instruments;

• Troubleshooting industrial electrical and mechanical equipment failures;

• Knowledge of and ability to maintain and modify PLC systems, process controls, HMI panels;

• Basic understanding of preventative or predictive maintenance; Job Description C2

• Basic mechanical aptitude;

• Computer operations, software installation and setup;

• Lock out-tag out and industrial safety. Preferred Education and Experience

• Bachelor Degree in relevant field;

• 3 years of experience in an industrial maintenance environment or dairy industry;

• OSHA 10 hour certificate.
